Dybas Makes Six Saves in 0-0 Draw for Saint Xavier

CHICAGO – Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) recorded a season-high six saves and posted her second shutout of the season to help Saint Xavier University women's soccer (5-3-2, 3-1-1 CCAC) earn a 0-0 draw against University of St. Francis (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday evening at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. The weather was a factor in the contest with a strong wind from north to south that limited each team when attacking the north goal. The Fighting Saints had 11 shot attempts to SXU's nine, as the Cougars had eight shot attempts in the first half and USF taking nine shot attempts in the second half.
  • Senior midfielder Louisa Schreiber (Bonndorf, Germany/Morton/Hans-Thoma-Schule) had a match-high four shot attempts.
  • Fifth-year senior midfielder Neida Ocampo (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Harper/Conant) registered three shot attempts.
  • Junior midfielder Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) collected two shot attempts and had one shot on goal.
  • In the 11th minute, Davila had a clean look and had her shot deflected by the goalkeeper off the crossbar that set up a corner by Schreiber.
  • With just 24 seconds remaining in the first half, Schreiber was on the receiving end of a tic-tac-toe pass, however her shot hit the near post to keep the match scoreless.
  • Dybas made all six of her saves in the second half, including making stops in the 70th and 71st minutes just 30 seconds apart, and her teammates blocked another shot in a flurry in front of the goal to thwart the best scoring opportunity by St. Francis.
Saint Xavier (5-3-2/3-1-1 CCAC) travels to Bourbonnais, Ill. to play Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in a CCAC contest on Tuesday, October 15. The match is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
