Late Goal by Ocampo Helps SXU Earn 2-2 Draw with ONU

Bourbonnais, Ill. – Fifth-year senior midfielder Neida Ocampo (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Harper/Conant) scored her first goal of the season in the 89th minute to help the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team (5-3-3, 3-1-2 CCAC) come away with a 2-2 draw against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Tuesday afternoon at Snowbarger Field in Bourbonnais, Ill. Ocampo's goal came just over 30 seconds after the Tigers had taken a 2-1 lead in the 87th minute. Both teams recorded 14 shots in the match, with SXU taking seven shots in both halves.
  • Fifth-year senior goalkeeper Eden Suda (Western Springs, Ill./Governors State/ Lyons Township) made five saves for the Cougars and sees her record move to 2-0-1 in three starts.
  • Senior midfielder Louisa Schreiber (Bonndorf, Germany/Morton/Hans-Thoma-Schule) netted her second goal of the year and finished the match with two shot attempts in 63 minutes of action.
  • Ocampo and junior midfielder Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) also had two shot attempts while player logged 90 minutes on the pitch.
  • Sophomore forward Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) led Saint Xavier with three shot attempts with one shot on goal. She also added her team-leading fourth assist of the season on Schreiber's goal.
  • In the closing seconds of the first half, Schreiber gave SXU a 1-0 leading heading into half time after she took a pass from Jonaitis and scored with just 44 seconds remaining in the half.
  • ONU squared the match at 1-1 in the 64th minute and tallied the go-ahead goal 23 minutes later before Ocampo tallied the eventual game-tying goal.
Saint Xavier (5-3-3/3-1-2 CCAC) hosts Holy Cross College (Ind.) on Homecoming in CCAC action on Saturday, October 19 at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. The match is scheduled for a 5:00 pm kickoff.
