CHICAGO – Four players finished with 10 or more digs, three had 10 or more kills and two players posted double-doubles as the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (13-10, 9-1 CCAC) came away with a 3-1 victory (22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-15) over University of St. Francis (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Tuesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Courtney Hunter (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) recorded a season-high 18 kills and she added a dig, while junior outside hitter
Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) also registered a season-best in kills with 14 on a .308 attack percentage (14-6-26) with a solo block. As a team, SXU had an attack percentage of .265 (62-23-147), fourth-highest of the 2024 campaign and third-best in conference play.
- Senior setter Kaleigh Ritter (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) handed out a match-leading 46 assists, along with 14 digs for her eighth double-double of the season, and four kills.
- Senior outside hitter Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill./DePaul/Ferris State/Mother McAuley) tallied her team-best 11th double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. She also had a service ace and a solo block.
- Redshirt junior libero Avanna Martinez (Coamo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) scooped up a match-high 23 digs, her fifth match of the year with 20 or more digs, with four assists and an ace.
- Freshman defensive specialist Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) was also tough defensively, coming away with 14 digs, her most against a CCAC opponent this season. Vann now has nine matches this year with 10 or more digs. She also added two assists and a service ace.
- Freshman middle blocker Carrington Smith (Flossmoor, Ill./Marian Catholic) finished with six kills, a dig and a solo block, and junior middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) added five kills.
- Redshirt junior setter Samantha Hovey (Mackinaw, Ill./Heartland/Dee-Mack) collected six digs, four assists, an ace and a kill.
- Junior defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) recorded two assists, two digs, two service aces and a kill in the win.
Saint Xavier (13-10/9-1 CCAC) travels to University Park, Ill. to take on Governors State University (Ill.) in a CCAC contest on Saturday, October 26. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start.
