Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) netted her third goal of the season for Saint Xavier University women's soccer (7-5-4, 5-3-3 CCAC), however the Cougars came up short in a 2-1 defeat to Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in the regular season finale and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Saturday afternoon at the Schaaf Athletic Complex in Palos Heights, Ill. Eden Suda (Western Springs, Ill./Governors State/Lyons Township) collected six saves, but sees her record move to 4-1-1 while in goal. SXU locks up a spot in the CCAC Tournament for the third consecutive season and will be the No. 5 seed when the tournament starts on Wednesday, November 6.
- Junior midfielder Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) recorded a team-high four shot attempts and had one shot on goal in 80 minutes of action.
- Senior midfielder Louisa Schreiber (Bonndorf, Germany/Morton/Hans-Thoma-Schule) tallied three shot attempts and one shot on goal while playing all 90 minutes.
- Redshirt junior midfielder/defender Marissa Murillo (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) registered two shots on goal in 45 minutes off the bench.
- Fifth-year senior midfielder Neida Ocampo (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Harper/Conant) and two shot attempts and one shot on goal, while junior midfielder Hailey Henry (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah Community) came away with a shot on goal in her 90 minutes on the pitch.
- The Trolls struck first, scoring in the 24th minute.
- Jonaitis squared the match at 1-1 when she hit the back of the net in the 26th minute. Saint Xavier outshot TCC in the first half by an 11-5 margin.
- Trinity Christian scored the game-winning goal in the 76th minute off of a free kick after a yellow card was issued. The Cougars were outshot in the second half 10-2.
Saint Xavier (7-5-4/5-3-3 CCAC) waits to find out who they play in the CCAC Tournament when the league announces the pairings early next week.
