Ogarek Nets 38; SXU Downed by ONU, 107-87

CHICAGO – Graduate student guard/forward Ryann Ogarek (Joliet, Ill./Benedictine/Lewis/Providence Catholic) tied the single-game program record with 17 made field goals and she recorded the fifth-best individual scoring effort by a Cougar in a game with 38 points, however Saint Xavier University women's basketball (3-4, 0-1 CCAC) lost to Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) opener for both teams Wednesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Ogarek finished 17-for-25 from the field with 10 rebounds (five offensive) for her third double-double in the last four games. She also had three assists, three steals and a blocked shot in 31 minutes on the floor. SXU Hall-of-Famer Morgan Stuut (2011-15) made 17 shots at Olivet Nazarene on January 18, 2014, scoring 40 points in that contest. Two-time NAIA Player of the Year Kara Krolicki (2014-18) holds the single-game scoring record for Saint Xavier with 42 in an overtime win at Robert Morris University (Ill.) on February 3, 2016.
  • Freshman forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) scored a career-high 17 points while making seven of her 11 shot attempts. She added four rebounds and two assists.
  • Senior forward Sofie Carr (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) tallied a career-best 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and she tied her career-high with four steals. Carr also had two assists, two rebounds and a block in 17 minutes off the bench.
  • Freshman guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) collected seven points, a career-high four assists and two rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench, and was 4-for-4 from the foul line.
  • Junior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) totaled four assists, four points and two rebounds.
  • Senior guard Aaliyahna Derrell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek) came away with a season-best five rebounds and she scored three points.
  • Redshirt senior guard Naya Haymon (Homewood, Ill./Kirkwood/Homewood-Floosmoor) chipped in three points and a rebound.
  • Freshman guard Gianna Amadio (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) added two points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist, while freshman guard Makayla Kelly (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) had two rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal.
Saint Xavier (3-4/0-1 CCAC) travels to Elgin, Ill. to play Judson University (Ill.) in a CCAC contest on Tuesday, November 26. The game is slated for a 5:30 start.
