INDIANAPOLIS – Senior guard
Aaliyahna Derrell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek) finished with a team-high 12 points on 50.0 percent shooting (4-for-8) from the floor and was 4-for-7 from three-point range, however the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team (0-2, 0-0 CCAC) lost to No. 22 University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Friday evening in the Catholic Classic hosted by Marian University (Ind.) in Indianapolis, Ind. Derrell added a pair of assists and a rebound in 24 minutes on the court. The Cougars were 13-of-14 from the free throw line, with all 14 attempts coming in the second half.
- Junior center Eleanor Harris (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) scored nine points after making four of her six shot attempts. She also had five rebounds (three offensive) with a block and a steal.
- Freshman guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) established a new career-high with eight points while adding three rebounds and a steal in 13 minutes off the bench.
- Junior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) pulled down a team-best six rebounds and she scored six points with two assists and a steal.
- Freshman forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) also scored six points. She also grabbed two rebounds with an assist and a steal.
- Freshman guard Gianna Amadio (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) made her first collegiate basket, finishing with four points. She also had an assist and a rebound off the bench.
Saint Xavier (0-2/0-0 CCAC) plays host Marian University (Ind.) in the Catholic Classic on Saturday, November 9 in Indianapolis, Ind. The game is slated for a 12:00 pm central start.
