CHICAGO – Senior guard Jordan Jackson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northwood/Wilmington/East Kentwood) scored 24 points, all in the second half, to help lead the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team (2-0, 0-0 CCAC) to an 89-71 victory over NCAA Division III Edgewood College (Wis.) Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Jackson shot at a 64.3 percent clip (9-for-14) in the second half, and he was 9-for-18 overall from the field. Jackson added five rebounds (four offensive), two assists, two steals and a block in 26 minutes on the court.

The Cougars overcame a slow start as they shot 27.0 percent (10-for-37) collectively in the first 20 minutes of play. SXU started out the game with a 7-0 run before the Eagles rallied to tie the game. The contest remained close until EC used a 17-7 run starting at the 7:44 mark and built a 33-23 lead with 1:28 left in the half. Momentum started to swing back to Saint Xavier as they closed the frame on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 33-31 at the halftime break. A layup with 17:23 to go in the second period gave the Cougars a 38-36 lead and outscored Edgewood, 51-35 down the stretch.

• Senior forward Andre Brandon (Coralville, Iowa/Sauk Valley/Liberty) posted his first double-double of the year, pulling down 19 rebounds with 16 points. His 19 rebounds tied for the eighth-most in single-game program history and were the most by a player since SXU Hall-of-Famer Brad Karp (2010-14) also had 19 boards vs. Judson University (Ill.) at the Shannon Center on December 7, 2013. Brandon also had a game-high four steals, two assists and a blocked shot.
• Fifth-year senior guard Julian Barr (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Land/Lincoln-Way East) poured in 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting and he was 4-for-4 from the foul line. He added two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
• Senior forward Kevin Bishop (Cleveland, Ohio/Pikeville/Parkland/Cleveland Benedictine) was the fourth player for Saint Xavier to finish in double-figures with 10 while making five of his eight shot attempts and he grabbed seven rebounds.
• Junior forward Davion Lawrence (Oak Lawn, Ill./Moraine Valley/Oak Lawn Community) collected nine points, five rebounds, three steals and a block in 12 minutes off the bench.
• Junior guard Mekhi Wilson (Covington, Ky./Iowa Central/Covington Catholic) totaled eight points and he added a pair of steals.
• Junior guard Ashton Atwater (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Valley/Ostego) came away with three assists, two points, two rebounds and two steals.

Saint Xavier (2-0, 0-0 CCAC) has a quick turnaround as they welcome Indiana University Columbus to the Shannon Center on Monday, November 11. The game is set for a 7:00 pm start on Bob Hallberg Court in Chicago, Ill.
