Team Effort Carries Saint Xavier Past TCC, 88-38

CHICAGO – Sophomore guard Madyson Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) scored a career-high and team-best 14 points as Saint Xavier University women's basketball (6-4, 3-1 CCAC) defeated Trinity Christian College (Ill.), 88-38, in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Kibelkis added two rebounds, and she had one of the team's 20 steals, their second game this season with 20 or more steals, that were converted into 41 points. The Cougar defense was tough, allowing six points in the first quarter and they limited the Trolls to just three points in the final period. SXU was also strong on the glass grabbing 46 rebounds, their third consecutive game with 45 or more rebounds.
  • Junior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) tallied 10 of her 12 points in the first quarter and she was 5-for-9 from the field overall. Green also had two assists, two rebounds and a pair of steals
  • Graduate student guard/forward Ryann Ogarek (Joliet, Ill./Benedictine/Lewis/Providence Catholic) just missed a double-double, netting 11 points and pulling down a game-high nine rebounds, along with three steals and an assist.
  • Freshman guard Gianna Amadio (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) also finished with a career-high with eight points by going 3-for-4 from the floor and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. She added two assists, two steals and a rebound in 12 minutes off the bench.
  • Freshman guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) collected seven points and an assist in 10 minutes on the court.
  • Junior center Eleanor Harris (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) posted six points, three assists, three rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots.
  • Senior forward Sofie Carr (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) came away with eight rebounds (five offensive) and she scored four points.
  • Redshirt junior guard Hayley Macdonald (Canberra, Australia/Williston State/Lake Ginninderra) corralled five rebound with four points.
  • Redshirt senior guard Naya Haymon (Homewood, Ill./Kirkwood/Homewood-Floosmoor) recorded a season-high five points, along with two assists, two rebounds and a steal.
  • Junior forward Kaliah Neighbors (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) also scored five points while adding three rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
  • Freshman guard Makayla Kelly (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) registered four points, a career-best three assists and a rebound.
  • Freshman forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) chipped in four points, three rebounds and a steal, while senior guard Aaliyahna Derrell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek) handed out a game-high five assists with two rebounds and a pair of steals.
Saint Xavier (6-4/3-1 CCAC) welcomes University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis (Mo.) to the Shannon Center on Wednesday, December 18. The game is set for a 5:00 pm start.
