CHICAGO – Senior guard
Jordan Jackson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northwood/Wilmington/East Kentwood) scored a season-high 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting, including going 4-for-6 from three-point range, to help lead Saint Xavier University men's basketball (7-2, 3-0 CCAC) to a 104-95 victory over Governors State University (Ill.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) matchup Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Jackson surpassed 20 or more points for the third time this season, and he also had four rebounds, a block and a steal, as was one of six Cougars to score 10 or more points. SXU shot a season-best 60.3 percent (41-for-68) from the field and they were 42.9 percent (12-for-28) from beyond the arc in the fourth game that they have surpassed the century-mark.
- Senior forward Kevin Bishop (Cleveland, Ohio/Pikeville/Parkland/Cleveland Benedictine) shot 72.7 percent (8-for-11) while pouring in a season-best 18 points and adding five rebounds in 24 minutes.
- Junior forward Davion Lawrence (Oak Lawn, Ill./Moraine Valley/Oak Lawn Community) provided a lift of the bench, scoring 15 points, along with five rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and a steal in 18 minutes of action.
- Junior guard Ashton Atwater (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Valley/Ostego) posted season-highs in points (13) and assists (eight), as well as coming away with three steals while going 4-for-6 from the floor and 3-for-4 from deep.
- Junior guard Deontre Warren (Champaign, Ill./Daley/Olive Harvey/Champaign Centennial) tallied 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 17 minutes off the bench.
- Fifth-year senior guard Julian Barr (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Land/Lincoln-Way East) also scored 10 points, along with three rebounds and an assist.
- Senior forward Andre Brandon (Coralville, Iowa/Sauk Valley/Liberty) came away with a team-best six rebounds while adding four points, two blocks and a pair of steals.
- Senior guard Sando Hill (Vanoss, Okla./Lyon/Seminole State/Vanoss) chipped in four assists, two rebound and a steal in the win.
Saint Xavier (7-2, 3-0 CCAC) takes on Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in a CCAC contest on Saturday, December 14. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 pm start.
