Johnson Posts Double-Double for SXU in 85-66 loss to CCSJ

CHICAGO – Senior guard Cedric Johnson (Bellevue, Neb./Sioux Falls/Nebraska-Kearney/Bellevue West) recorded his sixth double-double of the season for the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team (14-9, 9-6 CCAC) in an 85-66 setback to Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) Saturday afternoon in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) matchup on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Johnson finished the game with 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal for SXU and was 8-for-10 from the foul line.
  • Freshman forward James Stevenson (Sun River Terrace, Ill./Momence) was hot from the field, making seven of his eight shot attempts for 14 points. He also had an assist, a block, a rebound and a steal in 24 minutes.
  • Senior guard Steven Ukiteyedi (Gaithersburg, Md./Allegheny/UMBC/Quince Orchard) came off the bench to tally 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting, and was 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. He added two rebounds and a steal in just 12 minutes.
  • Freshman guard Jordan Streeter (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) finished in double-figures as well, scoring 10 points. He also had five rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
  • Junior forward Andre Brandon (Coralville, Iowa/Sauk Valley/Liberty) recorded eight points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
  • Junior guard Sando Hill (Vanoss, Okla./Lyon/Seminole State/Vanoss) chipped in three rebounds, three steals, an assist and a point.
  • The Cougars shot 54.8 percent (23-for-42) from the field and it was the second loss this season for SXU when they shot 50.0 percent or better in a game. They are now 8-2 on the year when they make more than half of their shot attempts.
Saint Xavier (14-10, 9-7 CCAC) hosts Indiana University South Bend at the Shannon Center on Wednesday, February 14 in Chicago, Ill. The CCAC contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start on Bob Hallberg Court.
