CHICAGO – A team effort from No. 13 ranked Saint Xavier University men's volleyball (3-5/2-0 CCAC) lead to a 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-13, 25-16) over Judson University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Tuesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach City/St. John Bosco) posted a match-high nine kills, along with three digs and a block. The Cougars finished the match with 11.0 total blocks, including six solos. It was the most solo blocks by SXU since they had eight in a five-set win at St. Ambrose University (Iowa) on January 23, 2018.
- Sophomore outside hitter Jan Lopuch (Krakow, Poland/I Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace Sportowego) tallied seven digs, seven kills, an assist, a block and a service ace.
- Freshman setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) handed out 26 assists with a match-best two aces. He also had a block and a dig.
- Senior middle blocker Jack McClain (Homer Glen, Ill./Marist) collected five blocks (three solos), five kills, three digs and a service ace.
- Sophomore outside hitter Oskar Krzyzak (Nowy Sacz, Poland/Szkota Mistrzostwa Sportowego Rzeszów) made his season debut and he totaled five kills, three blocks (one solo), an assist and a dig.
- Redshirt junior outside hitter Vejas Cuplinskas (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) recorded five kills and three digs, all in the third set.
- Fifth-year senior middle blocker Drew Ehlers (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) also had five blocks (two solos), along with three kills, an ace and a dig.
- Fifth-year senior setter Christian Oviedo (Brea, Calif./Concordia-Irvine/Servite) registered nine assists and a dig.
- Sophomore libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) came away with six digs and a pair of assists.
- Junior outside hitter Sean Carey (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) added four kills, while senior middle blocker John Glennon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) chipped in a pair of kills in the win.
No. 13 Saint Xavier (3-5/0-0 CCAC) hosts a Tri-Match on Saturday, February 17 at the Shannon Center. They play St. Ambrose in a CCAC contest at 11:00 am, SAU faces Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) at 1:00 pm and SXU takes on MSOE at 3:00 pm.
