CHICAGO – Junior midfielder Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) redirected a free kick from junior midfielder Hailey Henry (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah Community) in the 80^th minute for the game-winning goal to give Saint Xavier University women's soccer (1-0, 0-0 CCAC) a thrilling 2-1 victory over Bethel University (Ind.) on a steamy Tuesday evening at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. The match was halted in the 85^th minute due to lighting as a storm system came through the area due to the hot and humid temperatures. The thermometer read 97 degrees Fahrenheit at kickoff.

• Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) earned the win in net, making a pair of saves.
• Junior midfielder Hope Lewis (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) netted her first goal of the season on her lone shot attempt.
• Sophomore forward Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and senior midfielder Louisa Schreiber (Bonndorf, Germany/Morton/Hans-Thoma-Schule) led the team with three shot attempts. Jonaitis had two shots on goal, while Schreiber had one, respectively.
• Davila finished the match with two shot attempts.
• The Pilots scored the first goal of the match in the 24^th minute off a semi-breakaway from the left side of the pitch.
• Lewis tied the match in the 58^th minute when she took a shot from inside the 18-yard box, set up by pass from fifth-year senior midfielder Neida Ocampo (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Harper/Conant), that the BU goalkeeper initially saved but couldn't hold on to the ball as it crossed the goal line.
• In the 80^th minute Henry lined up a free kick from the near right side from 25 yards out. Her shot came in towards the near post and Davila, on a rush, hit the ball in by the near post for the game-winning tally.

Saint Xavier (1-0/0-0 CCAC) travels to Kokomo, Ind. to play Indiana University Kokomo on Saturday, August 31. The match is slated for a 4:00 pm central start.
