Davila Scores in 4-1 Setback for SXU at No. 7 Spring Arbor

Spring Arbor, Mich. – Junior midfielder Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) tallied her third goal of the season, however the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team (2-2-1, 0-0 CCAC) dropped a non-conference road contest, 4-1, to No. 7 ranked Spring Arbor University (Mich.) Saturday evening in Spring Arbor, Mich. The Cougars trailed just 1-0 at halftime before SAU pulled away in the second half with three goals. The host Cougars held a 12-5 shot advantage over SXU.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) recorded a pair of saves in the first 45 minutes but suffered the loss.
  • Fifth-year goalkeeper Eden Suda (Western Springs, Ill./Governors State/Lyons Township) made her season debut to start the second half and she made three saves.
  • Sophomore forward Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) collected a pair of shots on goal while playing all 90 minutes and picking up her third assist of the 2024 campaign.
  • Spring Arbor scored the first goal of the contest in the 25th minute and the score would stand heading into halftime.
  • SAU went up 2-0 in the 55th minute.
  • Davila responded just 22 seconds later in the 56th minute off the restart after receiving a pass from Jonaitis.
  • The home Cougars notched a pair of goals just over two minutes apart in the 68th and 70th minutes, respectively.
Saint Xavier (2-2-1/0-0 CCAC) beings Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play when they take on Indiana University Northwest on Friday, September 20. The match in scheduled for a 6:00 pm kickoff in Crown Point, Ind.
