SXU Drops CCAC Match, 1-0, to Indiana Northwest

Crown Point, Ind. – The Saint Xavier University women's soccer team (2-3-1, 0-1 CCAC) lost to Indiana University Northwest by a score of 1-0 in their Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) opener Friday afternoon at the Sparta Center in Crown Point, Ind. Both teams finished with 11 shot attempts and five saves, however a goal in the 36th minute by the RedHawks was the difference in the contest.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) made three saves in the first half.
  • Fifth-year goalkeeper Eden Suda (Western Springs, Ill./Governors State/Lyons Township) started the second half for the Cougars and she collected two saves.
  • Fifth-year senior defender/midfielder Neida Ocampo (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Harper/Conant) led SXU with three shot attempts and two shots on goal.
  • Junior midfielder Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) and junior midfielder Hope Lewis (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) both recorded three shot attempts and one shot on goal, respectively.
  • IUN went on the offensive in the 33rd minute as a shot attempt went high over the net. In the 35th minute, Dybas made her second save of the match, however Indiana Northwest had two corner kicks in the span of 40 seconds, the last corner kick set up the eventual game-winning goal in the 36th minute.
  • Davila had a chance to tie the match in the 41st minute, but the RedHawks came away with a team save. She had another look in the 43rd minute, however the shot went high.
Saint Xavier (2-3-1/0-1 CCAC) returns to Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field when they take on Viterbo University (Ind.) in a CCAC contest on Tuesday, September 24. The match is scheduled for a 5:00 pm kickoff.
