Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) tallied her team-leading fourth goal of the year and fifth-year senior goalkeeper
Eden Suda (Western Springs, Ill./Governors State/ Lyons Township) made five saves to post her first shutout of the season to help Saint Xavier University women's soccer (3-3-1, 1-1 CCAC) to earn a 2-0 victory over Viterbo University (Wis.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Tuesday evening at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. Davila finished the match with a high of five shot attempts and she had four shots on goal. For Suda, it was her first shutout as a Cougar and she picked up her first win of the year in her first start.
- Senior midfielder Louisa Schreiber (Bonndorf, Germany/Morton/Hans-Thoma-Schule) recorded her first goal of the season and she had two shot attempts while playing all 90 minutes.
- Fifth-year senior defender/midfielder Neida Ocampo (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Harper/Conant) registered her second point of the season with her assist on Davila's goal.
- SXU outshot the V-Hawks, 12-10, and they limited VU to just a pair of shot attempts in the second half.
- Davila took a pass from Ocampo and lined a shot from 30 yards out into the upper third of the goal just over the goalkeeper to open the scoring in the 11th minute.
- Schreiber came out of a scrum and she fired a shot from the left side past the keeper in the 67th minute to secure the conference win.
Saint Xavier (3-3-1/0-1 CCAC) hosts St. Ambrose University (Iowa) in a CCAC match-up on Saturday, September 28 at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. The match is scheduled for a 2:00 pm start.
