Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) scored her team-leading second goal of the season to help the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team (2-1-1, 0-0 CCAC) earn a 1-1 draw with NCAA Division II Roosevelt University (Ill.) Sunday afternoon at Morris Field in Arlington Height, Ill. Davila paced the Cougar offense, recording a match-high four shot attempts despite SXU being out-shot 15-12 in the contest. Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) nearly doubled her save output for the season, posting five saves after she made six combined stops in her previous three matches.
- Sophomore forward Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) recorded three shot attempts with one on goal. She assisted on Davila's goal for her team-best second helper.
- Junior midfielder Hailey Henry (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah Community) also came away with three shot attempts and one shot on goal while playing all 90 minutes.
- Senior midfielder Louisa Schreiber (Bonndorf, Germany/Morton/Hans-Thoma-Schule) and junior midfielder Vicki Ferrer (Cicerco, Ill./Morton CC/Morton East) each had a shot on goal, respectively.
- The Lakers struck first with a goal in the 14th minute to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Dybas finished the first half with three saves, making a pair of stops in the first five minutes of play.
- In the 66th minute, Jonaitis connected with Davila to square the match at 1-1.
- Both goalkeepers each made a save in the final 20 minutes, but neither program was able to score the go-ahead goal.
Saint Xavier (2-1-1/0-0 CCAC) travels to Spring Arbor, Mich. to face No. 7 Spring Arbor University (Mich.) on Saturday, September 14. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 pm central kickoff.
