Bourbonnais, Ill. – Despite shooting a season-high 58.1 percent (36-for-62) from the field, the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team (10-8, 6-4 CCAC) came up short in an 84-80 setback to Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday afternoon at McHie Arena in Bourbonnais, Ill. Eleanor Harris (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) led the Cougars with a season-high 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the floor. She was one rebound shy of tying her career-high, collecting 12, as well as one block short of equaling the most she's had in a game, finishing with a season-best five rejections. Harris added two steals and an assist in 26 minutes off the bench.
SXU limited the Tigers to 36.4 percent shooting (28-for-77), however ONU made 12 three-pointers to Saint Xavier's three, and Olivet Nazarene doubled up the Cougars at the foul line with 25 attempts (16 made) to SXU's 11 (five made).
- Senior center Alyssa Crenshaw (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee-Crown) made seven of her nine shot attempts, collecting 16 points. She now just needs three points for 1,000 for her career. Crenshaw also had six rebounds, an assist and a steal.
- Freshman forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) also tallied 16 points on a career-high 72.7 percent shooting (8-for-11), and she has scored in double-figures in six of her last seven games. Bafia added four rebounds and a pair of assists.
- Junior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) recorded nine points, three rebounds and a steal.
- Senior forward Sofie Carr (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) went 4-for-4 to score eight points, while adding two assists, two rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal.
- Graduate student guard/forward Ryann Ogarek (Joliet, Ill./Benedictine/Lewis/Providence Catholic) posted six points, four rebounds and three assists.
- Freshman guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) registered six points, three assists, three steals and a rebound.
- Redshirt senior guard Naya Haymon (Homewood, Ill./Kirkwood/Homewood-Flossmoor) added three points, tied her season-high with three assists and she had a rebound.
- Senior guard Aaliyahna Derrell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek) grabbed five rebounds with three assists and a steal.
Saint Xavier (10-8/6-4 CCAC) returns to the Shannon Center to play Judson University on Wednesday, January 22. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 pm tip-off.
