Crenshaw Reaches Milestone for SXU in 72-40 win over JU

CHICAGO – Senior center Alyssa Crenshaw (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee-Crown) reached multiple milestones for the Cougars Wednesday evening, finishing the game with five rebounds, four points, three blocked shots, two steals and an assist for the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team (11-8, 7-4 CCAC) in a 72-40 triumph over Judson University (Ill.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest on Bob Hallberg Court in Chicago, Ill. Crenshaw became just the 23rd player in program history to score 1,000 or more career points, the 13th player to grab 600 or more career rebounds and the 20th player to block 50 more shots all-time for SXU. She now has 1,001 career points, 602 career rebounds and 50 career blocked shots.

Neither team was able to hold more than a two-possession lead in the first quarter with Saint Xavier up 16-15 after the first 10 minutes. The Cougars limited Judson to just 1-for-10 shooting in the second period and they built a 30-19 advantage heading into halftime. Crenshaw surpassed the 1,000-point milestone at the 6:21 mark of the second quarter after she sank a jumper from the top of the lane off a pass from redshirt senior guard Naya Haymon (Homewood, Ill./Kirkwood/Homewood-Floosmoor). SXU controlled the pace in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 42-21, to post the conference victory.
  • Graduate student guard/forward Ryann Ogarek (Joliet, Ill./Benedictine/Lewis/Providence Catholic) posted her fourth double-double of the year after scoring a game-high tying 12 points and grabbing a team-best 10 rebounds (seven offensive). She also added a pair of steals.
  • Sophomore guard Madyson Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) was efficient in nine minutes off the bench, shooting 4-for-5 from three-point range and 4-for-6 overall, with 12 points, along with three rebounds, an assist and a steal.
  • Junior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) tallied 11 points, three rebounds and an assist.
  • Freshman guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) came away with seven points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
  • Freshman guard Gianna Amadio (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) recorded six points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal.
  • Junior center Eleanor Harris (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) hauled in four rebounds with two blocks, two points, two steals and an assist.
  • Senior forward Sofie Carr (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) added four points, four rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal.
Saint Xavier (11-8/7-4 CCAC) travels to University Park, Ill. to play Governors State University (Ill.) on Saturday, January 25. The game is slated for a 1:00 pm start.
