CHICAGO – Despite having six different players score10 or more points, the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team (14-6, 9-3 CCAC) dropped a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest to Governors State University (Ill.), 108-95, Saturday afternoon at the GSU Athletic Center in University Park, Ill. Junior guard Deontrae Warren (Champaign, Ill./Daley/Olive Harvey/Champaign Centennial) scored a season-high 20 points, shooting 7-for-16 from the field and 5-for-12 from beyond the arc, along with five rebounds (four offensive) and a season-high tying four steals in just 18 minutes off the bench.

The Cougars posted 44 rebounds with a season-high 27, however Governors State came away with 62 rebounds as SXU shot a season-low 33.0 percent (33-for-100) from the floor. Saint Xavier was efficient with their passing as they collected 22 assists on their 33 baskets, their second consecutive game with 20 or more assists. Even though the Cougars lost, they remain in a tie for second place in the CCAC.

• Junior guard Mekhi Wilson (Covington, Ky./Iowa Central/Covington Catholic) recorded 14 points, a season-high tying four steals, three rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
• Fifth-year senior guard Julian Barr (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Land/Lincoln-Way) totaled 12 points, three assists, two steals and a rebound.
• Senior guard Sando Hill (Vanoss, Okla./Lyon/Seminole State/Vanoss) tallied 11 points, a team-leading and season-best seven assists, two steals and a rebound.
• Junior guard Ashton Atwater (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Valley/Ostego) also scored 11 points, along with four assists, three rebounds and three steals.
• Senior forward Kevin Bishop (Cleveland, Ohio/Pikeville/Parkland/Cleveland Benedictine) recorded his first double-double of the year with 10 points and a season-high tying 10 rebounds (eight offensive). He also handed out a season-best five assists with a block and a steal.
• Redshirt sophomore guard Mason Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) collected seven points and a rebound, while junior guard DJ Shelton (Chicago, Ill./Calumet St. Joseph/UTTC/Thornridge) added a season-high five rebounds and four points.

Saint Xavier (14-6, 9-3 CCAC) travels to Palos Heights, Ill. to play Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in CCAC action on Wednesday, January 29. The game is set for a 7:00 pm start.
