SXU Women’s Soccer Sets Program Record in 0-0 Draw vs. JU

CHICAGO – Despite controlling the offensive pace, holding a 21-5 shot advantage, the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team (5-3-2, 4-0-1 CCAC) drew a 0-0 tie with Judson University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Wednesday evening at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. Senior midfielder Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) finished with a match-high seven shot attempts while playing the full time. Junior goalkeeper Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) made two saves for the Cougars, earning her third shutout of the season. She also has a pair of combined shutouts as well. SXU established a new program record for consecutive shutouts, posting its fifth straight clean sheet, breaking the old mark of four that was achieved four times (2004, 2006, 2010 & 2024).
  • The starting 11 for Saint Xavier did not leave the pitch with each player logging 90 minutes of playing time.
  • Graduate student midfielder Lexi Shreve (Coon Rapids, Mich./Crown/Maranatha Christian Academy) tallied five shot attempts with one shot on goal.
  • Junior forward Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) finished with four shots on goal on four attempts.
  • Freshman midfielder Paige Swaw (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) totaled three shot attempts and one shot on goal.
  • Senior midfielder Vicki Ferrer (Cicero, Ill./Morton/Morton East) had a pair of shots on goal on two attempts.
  • Aiding Dybas in the shutout were the members of the defensive back line, featuring: Shreve, senior midfielder Hope Lewis (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb), junior defender Klair Heim (Denver, Iowa/Iowa Central/Denver) and junior defender Stephanie Quevedo (Cicero, Ill./Morton East). The group limited the Eagles offensively.
  • The Cougars doubled their offensive output in the second half, recording 14 shot attempts.
  • SXU had a corner kick opportunity in the 88th minute when Shreve sent in a kick that allowed Ferrer to get a shot off, however the JU goalkeeper was able to make the stop.
Saint Xavier (5-3-2/4-0-1 CCAC) travels to Bourbonnais, Ill. to play Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in a CCAC contest on Saturday, October 4. The match is set for a 7:00 pm start.
