Bourbonnais, Ill. – The Saint Xavier University women's soccer team (5-3-3, 4-0-2 CCAC) extended its program record for consecutive shutouts to six after they finished their Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match with Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in a 0-0 draw Saturday evening at the Snowbarger Athletic Complex in Bourbonnais, Ill. Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) was solid in goal, recording five saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season, along with two combined shutouts. The six shutouts produced by the Cougars this year are the most in a season since they also had six clean sheets in both 2011 and 2012. SXU finished the match with a 15-14 shot advantage. With the tie, Saint Xavier is in first place in the CCAC with 14 points.
- Senior midfielder Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) led the Cougars with five shot attempts in 88 minutes of action.
- Junior forward Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and freshman midfielder Paige Swaw (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) each collected four shot attempts and two shots on goal, respectively.
- Graduate student midfielder Lexi Shreve (Coon Rapids, Mich./Crown/Maranatha Christian Academy) and senior midfielder Hope Lewis (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) both chipped in a shot attempt.
- Dybas made her first save of the match in the fourth minute.
- In the 12th minute, Swaw had a shot stopped by the ONU goalkeeper.
- Neither team was able to establish a foothold in the first half with SXU holding an 8-5 shot advantage.
- The Tigers had scoring chances in the 72nd minute, a Dybas save, and the 73rd minute with a shot missing high.
- In the 77th minute, Saint Xavier responded with a shot from Jonaitis saved that set up a corner kick. Davila headed a shot wide right in the 78th minute.
- Jonaitis had a scoring opportunity in the final minute; however, her shot was turned away.
Saint Xavier (5-3-3/4-0-2 CCAC) hosts St. Ambrose University (Iowa) in CCAC action on Tuesday, October 7, at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field. The match is slated for a 7:00 pm start in Chicago, Ill.
