Maddie Manzke (Orland Park, Ill./Keiser/Webber International/Warner/Sandburg) scored her fourth goal of the season and junior goalkeeper
Natalie Dybas (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) made four saves to help guide the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team (6-4-4, 5-1-3 CCAC) to a key 1-0 triumph over University of St. Francis (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Wednesday evening at Joliet Memorial Stadium in Joliet, Ill. Dybas earned her fifth shutout of the year, tying her career-high for shutouts in a season when she had five as a freshman in 2023. She also tied her career-high with her sixth win in net, also accomplished two years ago. The Cougars finished with a 16-15 shot advantage on the evening.
- Manzke collected three shot attempts in 89 minutes of play.
- Junior forward Alex Jonaitis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) tallied four shot attempts with two shots on goal. She picked up her team-leading sixth assist on the winning goal.
- Senior midfielder Veronica Davila (Bourbonnais, Ill./Governors State/Bradley-Bourbonnais) also had four shot attempts with one shot on goal.
- Freshman midfielder Paige Swaw (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) came away with three shot attempts and one shot on goal in 90 minutes on the pitch.
- Senior midfielder Vicki Ferrer (Cicero, Ill./Morton/Morton East) had a pair of shot attempts with one shot on goal. She added her second assist of the year.
- Dybas recorded a pair of saves in the first half to keep the match scoreless at halftime.
- In the 62nd minute a tick-tack-toe pass from Ferrer to Jonaitis to Manzke led to the only goal in the match. For Manzke, it was her second game-winning goal in 2025.
Saint Xavier (6-4-4/5-1-2 CCAC) celebrates 'Senior Night' before their CCAC match with Mount Mary University (Wis.) on Saturday, October 18 at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
