CHICAGO – Despite a season-high 20 service errors, the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (12-6, 10-3 CCAC) defeated Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in four sets (25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Tuesday night on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. The Cougars had three players finish with 10 or more kills, as well as three players collect 10 or more digs in the victory. Senior outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) led the team with 12 kills, tied for her second-highest total this season, along with four digs and a block. For the second consecutive match, fifth year senior libero Avanna Martinez (Coamo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) scooped up 29 digs, a match-best, while adding a pair of assists and a service ace. Senior setter Samantha Hovey (Mackinaw, Ill./Heartland/Dee-Mack) came away with a season-high 30 assists, as well as 14 digs, six kills, an ace and a block.

• Senior middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) posted 11 kills, three blocks (one solo) and two digs. It is the first time in her collegiate career that she had 10 or more kills in two straight matches.
• Freshman outside hitter Danica Bowden (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) recorded a career-high 11 kills, adding a career-best three blocks (one solo) and a dig.
• Junior setter Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) handed out 15 assists with six digs and two service aces, one coming last in the fourth set.
• Sophomore middle blocker Carrington Smith (Flossmoor, Ill./Marian Catholic) collected nine kills on a .444 attack percentage (9-1-18), three blocks (one solo) and an assist.
• Senior outside hitter Tara Glynn (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) finished with five kills, including the match-winning kill, and a season-high four digs.
• Graduate student defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) registered 10 digs, her fifth match this season with 10 or more digs.
• Senior defensive specialist Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) added a pair of digs and an assist, while sophomore libero/defensive specialist Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) chipped in two digs.

Saint Xavier (12-6/10-3 CCAC) hosts Indiana University Northwest at the Shannon Center in CCAC action on Thursday, October 23. The match is set for a 7:00 pm start.
