Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) scored a game-high 18 points, making eight of her 13 shot attempts, along with eight rebounds (four offense) and four steals in 22 minutes of action as Saint Xavier University women's basketball (5-2, 3-0 CCAC) defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Wednesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. After trailing 4-2 in the opening minutes, the Cougars outscored the Crimson Wave 25-4 to end the first quarter to pull away. The SXU defense forced a season-high 30 turnovers, and they collected a season-best 15 steals to improve to 3-0 in conference play.
- Senior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) poured in 17 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field, going 3-for-6 from three-point range, with a team-leading four assists, three rebounds and a steal in 23 minutes on the court.
- Junior guard Madyson Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) netted 11 points, along with a season-high five rebounds (three offensive), an assist and a steal in 14 minutes of playing time off the bench.
- Freshman forward Alaina Peetz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) finished in double-figures as well, recording 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting from the floor. She added a block and a rebound in 19 minutes.
- Freshman guard Brooklynn Johnson (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) totaled six points, six rebounds, two assists and a pair of blocks.
- Freshman guard Julia Benjamin (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) produced a career-best eight rebounds (five offensive), five points, two steals and an assist.
- Freshman guard Elinor Lindal (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) tallied four points, two rebounds and two steals.
- Senior guard Lia Chudzik (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) came away with four rebounds, three assists and two points.
- Sophomore guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) had a game-high tying four steals, along with three rebounds and a point.
- Sophomore guard Gianna Amadio (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) added four rebounds (three offensive), two assists and a point in the win.
Saint Xavier (5-2/3-0 CCAC) takes on Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in CCAC action on Saturday, November 22 at the Shannon Center. The game is slated for a 1:00 pm start.
