Lebanon, Tenn. – The Saint Xavier University women's basketball team (9-5, 5-1 CCAC) entered the fourth quarter with a 62-51 lead over Cumberland University (Tenn.), however the Cougars only scored six points on 3-for-10 shooting in the final 10 minutes, along with eight turnovers as they were outscored 25-6 in a 76-68 non-conference loss Saturday afternoon at Dallas Ford Arena in Lebanon, Tenn. to close out the 2025 portion of their schedule. SXU led 68-63 win just under three-minutes remaining in regulation, but the Phoenix closed out the contest on a 13-0 run, taking the lead on a layup at the 1:19 mark. Senior guard
Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) paced Saint Xavier with 16 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the floor, adding two rebounds and an assist in 29 minutes on the court.
- Sophomore forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) also shot 7-for-15 from the field, pulling down nine rebounds (three offensive) with three assists, two blocked shots and two steals in 33 minutes of play.
- Freshman guard Taryn Fisher (Westfield, Ind./Carmel) established a new career-high with 12 points, making five of her six shot attempts, including going 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. She also had three rebounds and an assist in 20 minutes.
- Senior guard Lia Chudzik (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) knocked down a pair of threes, finishing with six points, an assist, a rebound and a steal in 15 minutes off the bench.
- Freshman forward Alaina Peetz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) stuffed the box score, coming away with five points, five rebounds, a career-best five steals, a career-high tying four blocks and an assist before fouling out in 37 minutes of action.
- Freshman Elinor Lindal (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) grabbed a career-best five rebounds, while adding four points, two assists and a steal.
- Freshman guard Brooklynn Johnson (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) collected four points, three rebounds, two assists and a take away.
- Sophomore guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Marist) chipped in three points, two assists and a rebound.
Saint Xavier (9-5/5-1 CCAC) returns to the hardwood in the New Year when they host Viterbo University (Wis.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest at the Shannon Center on Saturday, January 3. The game is set for a 1:00 pm start in Chicago, Ill.
