Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) reached a major career milestone by becoming just the 24
th player in program history to score 1,000 or more career points to help guide the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team (10-5, 6-1 CCAC) to a 77-57 triumph over Viterbo University (Wis.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) competition Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Green finished with a game-high 21 points on 8-for-17 shooting, 5-for-10 from beyond the arc, with five rebounds, four assists and three steals in 33 minutes of action. She now has 1,003 points in her career, and became the first player for the Cougars since her former teammate,
Alyssa Crenshaw (2021-25), to surpass the 1,000-point mark when Crenshaw did so last season on January 22, 2025.
SXU overcame an early 8-0 deficit, scoring for the first time in the game at the 5:08 mark. From there, Saint Xavier closed out the opening quarter on a 12-3 run. Sophomore guard
Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) gave the Cougars the lead for good after she knocked down a trey with 1:11 remaining, and she added a pair of foul shots to give SXU a 14-11 advantage. Saint Xavier dished out a season-high 22 assists on 28 made baskets while also draining 12 three-pointers, their second-most made threes in a game this season.
- Freshman guard Brooklynn Johnson (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) collected 12 points, going 5-for-11 from the field. She added a pair of rebounds in 22 minutes of play.
- Freshman forward Alaina Peetz (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) posted her fourth double-double of the year with a game-high 12 rebounds and 10 points. She also had two assists, a blocked shot and a steal in 32 minutes on the court.
- Freshman guard Julia Benjamin (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) tallied nine points on 3-for-4 shooting, making 2-of-3 from deep in 11 minutes off the bench.
- Egan came away with eight points, a season-best five assists, a rebound and a steal.
- Senior guard Lia Chudzik (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) recorded five points and three assists.
- Sophomore forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) logged four rebounds, three assists, three points and a pair of steals.
- Sophomore guard Gianna Amadio (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) added three points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal in the conference win.
Saint Xavier (10-5/6-1 CCAC) travels to Milwaukee, Wis. to take on Mount Mary University (Wis.) in CCAC action on Wednesday, January 7. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
