CHICAGO – Junior guard
Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) finished with a team-best 16 points as Saint Xavier University women's basketball (13-9, 9-5 CCAC) topped Indiana University Northwest, 73-68, in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday afternoon on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. The Cougars were 7-for-10 from the foul line in the final minute of regulation, shooting 18-for-24 from the charity stripe for the game, and they withstood a 44-point game from Jessica Carrothers, the defending NAIA Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week. SXU out-rebounded the RedHawks by a 49-32 margin, doubling them up 16-8 on second-chance points as they corralled 15 offensive rebounds.
- Green also had three rebounds and an assist in the win.
- Senior center Alyssa Crenshaw (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee-Crown) extended her double-double streak to three games, hauling in a career-high 16 rebounds (six offensive) and scoring 12 points. She was 6-for-8 from the free-throw line, along with three assists.
- Freshman guard Maeve Egan (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) finished 4-for-8 from the field, including 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, collecting 12 points in 17 minutes off the bench.
- Freshman forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) went 3-for-6 from the floor, scoring seven points. She added three rebounds and a pair of assists.
- Sophomore guard Madyson Kibelkis (Peotone, Ill/Peotone) also tallied seven points and she grabbed three rebounds.
- Graduate student guard/forward Ryann Ogarek (Joliet, Ill./Benedictine/Lewis/Providence Catholic) came away with 10 rebounds, along with five points and an assist.
- Redshirt junior guard Hayley Macdonald (Canberra, Australia/Williston State/Lake Ginninderra) recorded six points and four rebounds.
- Junior center Eleanor Harris (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) registered four points, three rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot
- Senior guard Aaliyahna Derrell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek) was clutch in the final minute, going 4-for-4 from the foul line, while adding an assist.
Saint Xavier (13-9/9-5 CCAC) hosts Viterbo University (Wis.) in a CCAC contest on Wednesday, February 5. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 pm start.
