CHICAGO – Senior guard Aaliyahna Derrell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek) scored a game-high 18 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field, going 2-for-4 from three-point range and 6-for-10 from the foul line to help lead the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team (14-9, 10-5 CCAC) to a 72-65 victory over Viterbo University (Wis.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play Wednesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Derrell attempted all 10 of her free-throws in the fourth quarter, including eight attempts in the final 90 seconds. She added a team-best five assists and a rebound in 36 minutes on the court.

Despite being out-rebounded 44-26, and outscored 22-8 on second-chance points, the Cougars shot 25-for-50 (50.0 percent) from the field, their fourth game of the season shooting 50.0 percent or better, and the took advantage of 20 Viterbo turnovers, scoring 18 points compared the VU's nine points off of 15 Saint Xavier turnovers.

• Graduate student guard/forward Ryann Ogarek (Joliet, Ill./Benedictine/Lewis/Providence Catholic) tallied 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting. She also had four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
• Senior center Alyssa Crenshaw (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee-Crown) recorded 11 points, and was 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. She added four rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals.
• Junior guard Jaidn Green (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) finished in double-figures as well, scoring 10 points. She came away with five rebounds, an assist and a steal in 29 minutes.
• Freshman forward Veronica Bafia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) registered six points and two rebounds, while junior center Eleanor Harris (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) posted a game-best five blocked shots, along with four points and two rebounds.

Saint Xavier (14-9/10-5 CCAC) makes the short trip to Whiting, Ind. to take on Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) on Saturday, February 8. The game is set for a 1:00 pm start.
