Davenport, Iowa – The No. 2 Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team (16-0/6-0 CCAC) came away with a pair of victories in the St. Ambrose University (Iowa) Tri-Match Saturday afternoon at Lee Lohman Arena in Davenport, Iowa. The Cougars swept the host Fighting Bees (25-17, 25-21, 25-13) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest with senior opposite hitter/setter Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach City/St. John Bosco) recording a match-high 18 kills on a stellar .654 attack percentage (18-1-26) and sophomore setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) collecting 26 assists, five digs and five service aces. SXU defeated Clarke University (Iowa) in its second match in three sets (25-12, 25-13, 25-18) as sophomore outside hitter Caydann Cox (Jamestown, N.D./Jamestown/Jamestown) tallied 13 kills on an impressive .541 attack percentage (13-1-21) and Daniels handed out a match-best 36 digs.

Match One:

• Pennala added three blocks, two digs and an ace, while Daniels had a pair of blocks.
• Cox registered eight kills, two blocks and two digs.
• Sophomore middle blocker Camden Steckler (Manteca, Calif./Jamestown/Manteca) finished with a team-best five blocks along with two kills
• Graduate student middle blocker Drew Ehlers (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) posted three blocks, three service aces, a dig and a kill.
• Junior libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) recorded a team-high six digs and he had an assist.
• Redshirt senior outside hitter Vejas Cuplinskas (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) collected three digs, an ace, a block and a kill.
• Senior outside hitter Sean Carey (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) chipped in four digs and a kill.

Match Two:

• Cox also had seven digs, four assists, two service aces and two solo blocks.
• Senior outside hitter Kegan Olig (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) tallied nine kills and four digs.
• Velez scooped up a match-leading 13 digs, along with four assists and an ace.
• Carey recorded six digs, six kills and a block.
• Daniels added six digs, three kills and three service aces.
• Freshman middle blocker Kyle Petrusch (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) tied his career-high with six kills on a .444 attack percentage (6-2-9) and he had a block assist.
• Cuplinskas came away with five kills, an ace and a dig.
• Ehlers and Pennala each posted three kills and a block, respectively.
• Steckler added three kills, while sophomore setter Aaron Amawan (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) tallied his first collegiate service ace.

No. 2 Saint Xavier (16-0/6-0 CCAC) makes the short trip to Whiting, Ind. to play Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in a CCAC match-up on Wednesday, March 19. The match is slated for a 7:00 pm first serve.
