Palos Heights, Ill. – Senior opposite hitter/setter
Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach City/St. John Bosco) finished with a match-best and season-high 18 kills, along with four blocks, four digs, four service aces and two assists to help lead No. 2 Saint Xavier University men's volleyball (14-0/5-0 CCAC) to a 3-1 victory (23-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-22) over Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Friday evening at the DeVos Gymnasium in Palos Heights, Ill. The Cougars recorded 13 aces on the night, the fourth time this season that they have had 10 or more service aces in a match, and the second time in their last three contests.
- Sophomore setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) paced the offense with 36 assists and he came away with a team-leading 11 digs for his third double-double in 2025. He also had a season-best five aces and a kill.
- Sophomore middle blocker Camden Steckler (Manteca, Calif./Jamestown/Manteca) recorded a season-high eight kills on a .615 attack percentage (8-0-13) and he had three blocks.
- Graduate student middle blocker Drew Ehlers (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) tallied seven kills on a .400 attack percentage (7-1-15) with three blocks, an assist and a dig.
- Junior opposite hitter Oskar Krzyzak (Now Sacz, Poland/Szkota Mistrzostwa Sportowego Rzeszow) also had seven kills along with two blocks (one solo), two digs and a service ace.
- Sophomore outside hitter Caydann Cox (Jamestown, N.D./Jamestown/Jamestown) scooped up 10 digs while adding six kills, three aces, three assists and a pair of blocks.
- Junior libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) added eight digs and two assists in the triumph.
No. 2 Saint Xavier (14-0/5-0 CCAC) prepares for the St. Ambrose University (Iowa) Tri-Match that takes place on Saturday, March 15 in Davenport, Iowa. The Cougars play the host Fighting Bees at 11:00 am in a CCAC contest, followed by a match with Clarke University (Iowa) at 1:00 pm.
