CHICAGO – The No. 2 Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team (22-0/10-0 CCAC) came away with a three-set victory (25-10, 25-17, 25-23) over Judson University in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Tuesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Caydann Cox (Jamestown, N.D./Jamestown/Jamestown) posted a match-high 13 kills on a .417 attack percentage (13-3-24), along with seven digs and an assist as the Cougars finished with a team attack percentage of .344 (45-13-93), the 11
th time this season that they have had an attack percentage of .300 or higher. SXU also collected 33 digs, the 14
th time they have scooped up 30 or more digs in a match this year.
- Senior opposite hitter/setter Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach City/St. John Bosco) recorded eight kills, a block, a dig and a service ace.
- Sophomore setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) finished with a match-leading 35 assists while adding four digs, two aces, two blocks and a kill.
- Junior opposite hitter Oskar Krzyzak (Now Sacz, Poland/Szkota Mistrzostwa Sportowego Rzeszow) registered six kills on eight attack attempts and a dig, all in the third set.
- Junior libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) had a match-best 13 digs with three assists and two service aces.
- Senior outside hitter Sean Carey (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) was efficient at the net, collecting seven kills on nine attack attempts, along with two digs and a block.
- Sophomore middle blocker Camden Steckler (Manteca, Calif./Jamestown/Manteca) came away with four blocks (one solo), four kills and a pair of digs.
- Graduate student middle blocker Drew Ehlers (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) tallied three kills, an ace and a block in two sets.
- Freshman middle blocker Kyle Petrusch (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) had three kills and a block.
- Senior defensive specialist Avery Chick (Newcastle, Wyo./Bethel/Campbellsville/Newcastle) checked in with two digs, sophomore setter Aaron Amawan (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) added one dig.
No. 2 Saint Xavier (22-0/10-0 CCAC) hosts its second Tri-Match of the season on Saturday, April 5, first taking on Lourdes University (Ohio) at 11:00 am, followed by a CCAC match with Viterbo University (Wis.) at 4:00 pm.
