LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four members from the Saint Xavier University softball team (37-8/16-0 CCAC) were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NAIA All-Region V Team when the awards were announced Friday afternoon. Sophomore outfielder
Aubrey Wroble (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) claimed All-Region V First Team recognition for the second year in a row, while junior outfielder
Fiona Crane (Evergreen Park, Ill./Northern Illinois/Mother McAuley) also earned First Team honors. Junior outfielder
Haley Matlock (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) and sophomore pitcher
Lily Strand (Evergreen Park, Ill./Saint Louis/Evergreen Park) were named All-Region V Second Team.
Overall, 150 student-athletes from 66 NAIA programs were named to the six All-Region Teams. Central Methodist University (Mo.), from Region V, had the most selections with seven. Each honoree will be considered for the two NFCA-NAIA All-America teams that will be announced on June 5.
- Crane was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Year, earned All-CCAC First Team honors, won a CCAC Gold Glove and was a three-time CCAC Player of the Week. She played in and started all 45 games for the Cougars, setting the single-season program record with 71 stolen bases on 73 attempts. Crane also tied the single-game school record with five stolen bases against Judson University (Ill.) on April 23. She also set the SXU single-season on-base percentage record, reaching base at a .549 clip and broke the runs scored record, crossing home plate 67 times. Crane batted .497 (71-for-143) with a .545 slugging percentage, adding two triples and her first collegiate home run. She collected 78 total bases with 23 RBI and 16 walks. While patrolling center field, Crane had a perfect fielding percentage on 81 chances (78 putouts and three assists).
- Wroble was an All-CCAC First Team selection, a CCAC Gold Glove winner and was a two-time CCAC Player of the Week in 2025. She broke her own single-season team batting average record, becoming the first player in SXU history to bat over .500 in a season (min. 100 at-bats), finishing with a .516 average (80-for-155). Wroble also had an on-base percentage of .500 for the second consecutive season at .525, while slugging .523. With 80 hits on the season, she became just the third player in program history to collect 80 or more hits in a year. Wroble played in and started all 45 games for Saint Xavier, posting 81 total bases with 46 runs scored, was 42-for-44 on stolen base attempts, 20 RBI, four walks and a double. She had a fielding percentage of .982 with 54 putouts, one assist and on error while playing right field.
- Matlock was named All-CCAC First Team for the first time this season after two All-CCAC Second Team selections in 2023 and 2024, and won her second CCAC Gold Glove. She played in and started 44 of the team's 45 games recording a .388 batting average (52-for-134), a .435 on-base percentage and slugging .433. She came away with 58 total bases, 47 runs scored, 27 RBI, was 20-for-21 on stolen base attempts, had 12 walks, four doubles and a triple. Moving from center field to left, Matlock posted a fielding percentage of .974 with 71 putouts, three assists and two errors, while being a part of two double plays.
- Strand was named the CCAC Pitcher of the Year, All-CCAC First Team and was CCAC Pitcher of the Week twice in 2025. She appeared in 27 games for the Cougars with 23 starts in the circle, coming away with a team-best 17 wins (17-5) and 106 strikeouts in 138.0 innings of work. Strand had an earned run average (ERA) of 2.43 with six shutouts and three saves, while allowing opponents to just a .230 batting average. Defensively, she had a perfect fielding percentage on 35 chances (29 assists and six putouts).
