CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (6-4, 4-1 CCAC) posted a season-high team attack percentage of .366 (42-8-93) to extend its winning streak to five in a row after a three-set victory (25-11, 25-17, 25-22) over St. Ambrose University (Iowa) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Thursday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Samantha Hovey (Mackinaw, Ill./Heartland/Dee-Mack) recorded a team-leading 10 kills on a stellar .714 attack percentage (10-0-14) to go along with 19 assists, five digs, a block and a service ace. She finished with her eighth consecutive double-double and tied her season-high in kills. Five players for the Cougars finished with seven or more kills in the match.
- Senior middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) registered eight kills on a .500 attack percentage (8-1-14) with a block and a dig.
- Sophomore middle blocker Carrington Smith (Flossmoor, Ill./Marian Catholic) came away with seven kills, three digs, two solo blocks and an ace.
- Redshirt sophomore middle blocker Delaney Panozzo (Grant Park, Ill./Grant Park) collected seven kills, a dig and a solo block.
- Senior outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) also had seven kills on a .333 attack percentage (7-1-18), while adding three digs and a solo block.
- Fifth year senior libero Avanna Martinez (Coamo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) scooped up a match-best 17 digs along with six assists and a service ace.
- Junior setter Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) totaled 12 assists, her eighth straight match with 10 or more assists, with four digs and an ace.
- Graduate student defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) tallied 10 digs, her second match with 10 or more digs this season, and a match-high two service aces.
- Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) added five digs in the win.
Saint Xavier (6-4/4-1 CCAC) makes the short trip to Gary, Ind. to play Indiana University Northwest in CCAC action on Tuesday, September 23. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
