Samantha Hovey (Mackinaw, Ill./Heartland/Dee-Mack) posted her third triple-double of the season, finishing with a season-high 29 assists, a season-best 24 digs and adding 10 kills and two service aces, while redshirt sophomore middle blocker
Delaney Panozzo (Grant Park, Ill./Grant Park) came away with a career-high 14 kills on a .324 attack percentage (14-3-34), two blocks (one solo) and a dig as the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (9-4, 7-1 CCAC) defeated Indiana University South Bend (26-28, 25-19, 18-25, 25-18, 15-11) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) contest Tuesday evening in South Bend, Ind. for their eighth consecutive win. It was the third straight match that the Cougars won in five sets, a mark they achieved almost two years ago to the day when they won in five on September 19, 26 & 28 in 2023. SXU equaled its season high in digs with 94, which happened on September 11, also against IUSB.
- Sophomore middle blocker Carrington Smith (Flossmoor, Ill./Marian Catholic) collected a season-high tying 12 kills, along with two blocks (one solo) and an assist.
- Fifth year senior libero Avanna Martinez (Coamo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) extended her streak of 10 or more digs to 13 matches to start the season, and to 17 matches overall since the end of the 2024 campaign, totaling 26 digs. She added a season-best nine assists and a pair of aces.
- Senior middle blocker Nicole Grochola (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) came away with nine kills and two blocks.
- Junior setter Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) handed out 17 assists while adding six digs.
- Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) scooped up a season-high 15 digs, and she added two service aces.
- Graduate student defensive specialist Katie DeHaan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) finished in double-digits in digs as well, coming away with a season-best 13, along with an assist.
- Senior outside hitter Tara Glynn (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) posted a career-high seven kills. She also had three digs.
- Freshman outside hitter Danica Bowden (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) tied her career-best in kills with six, while adding a career-high four digs.
- Senior outside hitter Jenny Jensen (Orland Park, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/Sandburg) recorded two kills and a dig, while senior defensive specialist Ariel Hoskin (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) chipped in an assist and a dig in the win.
Saint Xavier (9-4/7-1 CCAC) returns to the court on Tuesday, October 7 when Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) comes to the Shannon Center for a CCAC contest. The match is set for a 7:00 pm start in Chicago, Ill.
