CHICAGO – Junior outside hitter
Caydann Cox (Helena, Mont./Jamestown/Jamestown) collected a match-best 14 kills on an impressive .500 attack percentage (14-3-22), three blocks, an assist, a dig, and a service ace to help lead the No. 2 ranked Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team (3-2/0-0 CCAC) to a three-set triumph (25-23, 25-15, 25-17) over No. 7 Lawrence Tech University (Mich.) Saturday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. The Cougars finished the match with a .338 attack percentage (39-13-77), a season-high eight aces and a season-best 18 block assists for a total of 9.0 blocks.
- Graduate student opposite hitter Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach City/St. John Bosco) tallied 12 kills on a .333 attack percentage (12-5-21) with eight digs, two blocks, an assist and a service ace.
- Junior setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) issued 34 assists, his third match with 30 or more assists to start the season. He added three blocks, two digs, two kills and an ace.
- Senior libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) dug up a match-leading 13 digs, adding two assists and two service aces.
- Senior middle blocker Tysen Myers (Apple Valley, Minn./Jamestown/Eastview) was tough at the net, coming away with a season-high five blocks while also posting five kills.
- Freshman middle blocker Nikolay Kotevski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Britanica Park School) recorded four kills and a pair of blocks.
- Freshman outside hitter Owen Krause (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) registered three blocks, two digs and two kills.
- Freshman outside hitter Henry Truitt (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) had two aces and two digs.
- Graduate student defensive specialist/libero Avery Chick (Newcastle, Wyo./Bethel/Campbellsville/Newcastle) came away with a pair of digs.
- Freshman middle blocker Hayden Grange (Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills) logged two service aces, including the match-winner, and a dig.
No. 2 Saint Xavier (3-2/0-0 CCAC) welcome No. 11 Grand View University (Iowa) to the Shannon Center on Friday, February 6. The NAIA Top 15 match-up is set for a 7:00 pm first-serve.
