No. 2 SXU Men’s Volleyball Sweeps No. 11 Grand View

CHICAGO – Junior setter Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb./Millard West), who claimed NAIA Setter of the Week honors earlier in the week, posted a season-high 39 assists to help lead the No. 2 ranked Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team (4-2/0-0 CCAC) to a 3-0 victory (25-16, 25-20, 25-19) over No. 11 Grand View University (Iowa) Friday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. Daniels added six digs and a service ace as the Cougars won their third consecutive match over an NAIA Top 15 opponent. SXU finished with a team attack percentage of .405 (45-11-84), their second-best effort of the season. The 45 kills and 42 assists were the second-most in a match so far in 2026, respectively, for Saint Xavier.
  • Junior outside hitter Caydann Cox (Helena, Mont./Jamestown/Jamestown) came away with a team-high 14 kills on a .370 attack percentage (14-4-27). He also had four digs and a block.
  • Graduate student opposite hitter Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach City/St. John Bosco) collected 10 kills, a season-best four blocks and two service aces.
  • Senior libero Andres Velez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) recorded a match-leading 12 digs, his third match with 10 or more digs in six matches, and three assists.
  • Freshman middle blocker Hayden Grange (Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills) tallied an impressive .800 attack percentage with eight kills on 10 attempts. He also had a season-best three blocks, two aces and a dig.
  • Freshman outside hitter Bernardo Kumm (Santa Cruz do Sul, Brazil/Colegio Maua) logged a season-high seven kills on a .385 attack percentage (7-2-13) and a dig.
  • Senior middle blocker Tysen Myers (Apple Valley, Minn./Jamestown/Eastview) registered six kills on a stellar .667 attack percentage (6-0-9) and a pair of blocks.
  • Graduate student defensive specialist/libero Avery Chick (Newcastle, Wyo./Bethel/Campbellsville/Newcastle) added three digs in the win.
No. 2 Saint Xavier (4-2/0-0 CCAC) has a quick turnaround as they take on No. 15 William Penn University (Iowa) at the Shannon Center on Saturday, February 7. The NAIA Top 15 contest is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start.
