Jazmyn Casas (Berwyn, Ill./Illinois-Chicago/Taft) earned Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Player of the Week for the second week in a row for Saint Xavier University softball (11-7/0-0 CCAC) when the awards were announced by the league office Tuesday morning. In six games on the team's Spring Trip, Casas batted .474 (9-for-19) with seven RBI, collecting at least on in five of the six games, with two runs, two stolen bases and a double. She added a .476 on-base percentage and slugged .526. The Cougars have won CCAC Player of the Week for the fourth consecutive week. It is also the first time since 2023 that SXU had the same player win the award in back-to-back weeks when Nicole Lovato (2020-23) won on March 7 & 14.
- Casas went 1-for-2 with an RBI in a 2-1 loss to No. 21 Georgia Gwinnett College. She collected two hits in three at-bats with an RBI and a stolen bases in a 7-2 triumph over the Grizzlies last Thursday.
- Starting play in the Gulf Shores Tournament, Casas had a hit in three trips to the plate with an RBI in a 10-1 setback to United States Sports University (Ala.) on Friday.
- She drove in two runs and scored once while going 1-for-4 in a 6-1 victory over Texas A&M University-San Antonio in game one of a split doubleheader on Saturday. Casas finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in an 8-4 win over Campbellsville University (Ky.) in game two.
- To wrap up play in the tournament, she had two hits in three at-bats, including a go-ahead two-run double to help Saint Xavier upset No. 22 William Carey University (Miss.), 4-1.
- In 18 this season, Casas leads the team with a .436 batting average (24-for-55) with a team-leading 21 RBI, as well as a team-best .673 slugging percentage and 1.173 OPS (on-base plus slugging) She is tied for the team-high with five doubles. Casas has scored 12 runs with five walks, four stolen bases on four attempts, two home runs and a triple.
Saint Xavier (11-7/0-0 CCAC) wraps up its Spring Trip with a doubleheader at No. 20 University of Mobile (Ala.) on Tuesday, March 10. Game one is slated for a 2:00 pm start.
