CHICAGO – Seven student-athletes from the Saint Xavier University cheer team were named to the American Midwest Conference (AMC) All-Academic Team when the awards were announced by the league office after the conclusion of the AMC Championships Friday afternoon. Shannon Cornfield (Frankfort, Ill./Carroll/Lincoln-Way East) was named the 2026 AMC Competitive Cheer Champion of Character presented by Athletic Solutions for the Cougars as well.
- Junior flyer Cheyenne Casto (Chicago, Ill./Allegan) maintains a 3.92 GPA as an Elementary Education major.
- Junior flyer Nia Clemon (Chicago, Ill./Rich Township) majors in Nursing with a GPA of 3.59.
- Cornfield carries a GPA of 3.22 while majoring in Nursing.
- Sophomore base Allyson Fernandez (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) is a Digital Marketing major, sporting a 3.43 GPA.
- Sophomore flyer Annette Gubala (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) holds a GPA of 3.65 as a Nursing major.
- Senior base Savanah Sutton (Oak Forest, Ill./Marist) majors in Nursing with a GPA of 3.49 in the classroom.
- Fifth-year senior base Nancy Vargas (Chicago, Ill./Kennedy) has a GPA of 3.21 while majoring in Early Childhood Education.
Saint Xavier participates in The College Classic, a virtual tournament, that takes place on Friday, March 13.
