SXU Cheer Places Sixth at AMC Championships

Columbia, Mo. – The Saint Xavier University cheer team finished sixth out of eight teams at the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championships with a team score of 70.57 Friday afternoon at the Arena of Southwell Complex on the campus of Columbia College in Columbia, Mo. It was the first season of competition for the Cougars in the AMC as they joined as an associate member prior to the start of the 2025-26 season. In the preliminaries in the morning, SXU was seventh overall with a score of 66.43. They improved their score in the finals in the afternoon, moving up one spot for a sixth-place finish. Oklahoma City University (Okla.) took the conference title with their score of 95.54
  • In the prelims, the Stars had the top mark at 93.75, followed by Dickinson State University (N.D) at 91.35, St. Ambrose University (Iowa) was third at 90.55, Langston University (Okla.) checked in with 78.08, Columbia posted a score of 74.03, University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis (Mo.) tallied a score of 73.45, Saint Xavier, and Cottey College (Mo.) with a score of 60.00.
  • In the finals Oklahoma City posted a score of 96.67, the Fighting Bees were second at 95.93 with the Blue Hawks in third with a tally of 94.10. The Lions recorded a score of 81.87, the host Cougars at 72.38, SXU at 71.95, the Eutectics at 68.78 and the Comets with a score of 56.74.
  • OCU had the top score, just ahead of the score of 94.59 logged by St. Ambrose. Dickinson State placed third at 93.41. Langston finished fourth with a score of 80.92, followed by Columbia at 72.80, the Cougars, UHSP at 69.95 and Cottey with a mark of 57.55.
Saint Xavier participates in The College Classic, a virtual tournament, that takes place on Friday, March 13.
