Bourbonnais, Ill. – Freshman infielder Trevor Corbett (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) totaled five RBI for Saint Xavier University Baseball (24-14/15-9) in a four-game Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) series with Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.), however the Cougars lost three of four games. Corbett had a pair of RBIs after going 3-for-7 with two steals, and senior pitcher Nick Krueger (Clifton, Ill./Danville Area/Clifton Central) threw 8.2 innings of relief, however SXU lost 14-9 in 13 innings. Senior catcher Aaron Orzech (Streamwood, Ill./Crossroads Christian Academy) and senior infielder Beau Polickey (Oak Lawn, Ill./Heartland/Brother Rice) each had two RBI in a 6-4 in game two of the doubleheader at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field Friday afternoon. The series moved to Bourbonnais, Ill. on Saturday where Corbett had two RBI and a stolen base, but the Tigers came away with an 8-5 victory. In the second game, redshirt freshman infielder Jackson Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) belted his team-leading eighth home run of the season, yet ONU pulled away for a 9-4 win.

Game One:

• Junior infielder Max Waszkiewicz (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale South) collected four hits in seven at-bats with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.
• Sophomore outfielder Parker Violett (Maple Park, Ill./Kaneland) was 2-for-5 with two RBI, two walks and a double.
• Senior outfielder Shea Zbrozek (Bloomington, Ill./Danville Area/Normal Community) went 2-for-6 with two runs, a double and a walk.
• Senior designated hitter Ryan O'Farrell (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) doubled with an RBI and a run scored, going 2-for-6.
• Sophomore pitcher Tyler Deluca (Minooka, Ill./Minooka Community) made the start, lasting 3.1 innings with nine hits, six runs (five earned), two walks and five strikeouts.
• Krueger nearly threw a complete game in relief, going 8.2 innings and allowing five hits, three earned run, three walks and striking out six batters.
• Junior pitcher Richard Gomez (Chicago, Ill./Parkland/Concordia/St. Laurence) took the loss (1-2) after he surrendered four hits and five earned runs without recording an out.
• Graduate student pitcher Carter Kopp (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Bishop James Mahoney) pitched an inning with two hits surrendered.
• Olivet Nazarene took a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1^st on a two-run single and an RBI base hit. They added a run in the top of the 2^nd with an RBI single.
• The Tigers plated two runs in the top of the 3^rd on an error and a run scoring on a double play to go up 6-0.
• Corbett pulled an RBI single to left and Violett lined an RBI single in the bottom of the 3^rd.
• Polickey cut the deficit in half with an RBI fielder's choice in the bottom of the 4^th.
• ONU pushed the lead to 8-3 with a two-run base hit in the top of the 5^th. They tacked on a run in the top of the 6^th off an RBI fielder's choice.
• The Cougars rallied for four runs in the bottom half of the frame. O'Farrell lifted a sacrifice fly, and Polickey, Waszkiewicz and Corbett each hit RBI singles, respectively.
• Freshman pinch hitter Kaleb Navarro (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle) clubbed an RBI double in the bottom of the 7^th.
• Violett tied the game in the bottom of the 8^th with an RBI double. SXU loaded the bases with no outs, however they could not bring in the go-ahead run.
• The game remained scoreless until the top of the 13^th when Olivet Nazarene plated five runs.

Game Two:

• Orzech finished 1-for-2, while Polickey was 1-for-1 with a walk.
• Violett went 2-for-3, scoring a pair of runs, and adding a stolen base.
• Michko had a hit in three at-bats with an RBI and a run.
• Senior pitcher Osvaldo Ballesteros Jr. (Berwyn, Ill./St. Laurence) made his first start of the season, and he picked up his first win (1-0) after throwing 4.0 innings with five hits, three runs (one earned), a walk and a strikeout.
• Senior pitcher Gannon Burns (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) recorded his team-leading second save of the year. He tossed 3.0 innings, scattering four hits with one earned run, two walks and a strikeout.
• SXU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 1^st. Orzech hit a sac fly, Michko poked an RBI single through the left side of the infield, junior outfielder Ben Meier (Beechwood, Ky./Lincoln Trail/Beechwood) and Polickey each drew bases-loaded walks.
• The Tigers scored an unearned run in the top of the 2^nd off a Saint Xavier miscue.
• Orzech lined an RBI single to left in the bottom of the inning.
• ONU hit an RBI double in the top of the 3^rd.
• Polickey bounced an RBI single back up the middle in the home half of the frame.
• Olivet Nazarene plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 5^th. They added a run in the top of the 7^th on an RBI base hit before Burns induced a ground ball to short to end the game.

Game Three:

• Corbett went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks.
• Violett had two hits in four at-bats with an RBI and a walk.
• Waszkiewicz scored twice, adding a walk while going 1-for-4.
• Zbrozek was 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
• Senior pitcher Thomas Plizga (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Fremd) took the mound, pitching 3.2 innings. He allowed three hits, five earned runs, four walks and struck out three batters to suffer the defeat (4-2).
• Kopp faced three batters in the 4^th innings, hitting two and walking one.
• Redshirt freshman pitcher Ethan Godlewski (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) worked 4.1 innings out of the bullpen, giving up four hits, three earned runs, a walk and registering a strikeout.
• Corbett drove in a run on an RBI groundout and Orzech collected an RBI on a fielder's choice in the top of the 1^st.
• The Tigers hit a home run in the bottom of the 2^nd.
• Violett picked up an RBI on an error in the top of the 3^rd, and Zbrozek plated a run on an RBI groundout in the top of the 4^th for a 4-1 advantage.
• With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 4^th, a walk, a hit-by-pitch, a walk, and another hit-by-pitch put ONU up 5-4.
• Olivet Nazarene hit an RBI double and an RBI groundout in the bottom of the 6^th. They tacked on a run in the bottom of the 8^th with an RBI single.
• Corbett laced an RBI single in the top of the 9^th.

Game Four:

• Corbett was 1-for-3 with a walk.
• Waszkiewicz had a hit in four at-bats with a run and a stolen base.
• Freshman infielder Peyton Panozzo (Homer Glen, Ill./St. Rita) hit an RBI double, going 1-for-2.
• Junior pitcher Cole Martz (Huntington, Ind./Kankakee/Huntington North) threw 4.1 innings, surrendering seven hits, five runs (three earned) and striking out six batters as he took the loss (2-4).
• Graduate student pitcher John Creviston (Westchester, Ill./Benedictine/Brother Rice) faced two batters, allowing a hit and a walk in the 5^th inning.
• Senior pitcher Jarrett Kenyon (Henderson, Nev./Utah State Eastern/South Suburban/Coronado) worked 0.2 innings, giving up two hits, three earned runs and a walk.
• Burns tossed an inning with one earned run and two walks.
• Corbett sliced an RBI single to right to break a scoreless tie in the top of the 3^rd.
• The Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the inning on a two-out, two-run single.
• Michko tied the game when he sent a ball of the wall in left field in the top of the 4^th.
• Panozzo put down a sacrifice bunt, and an error on the play allowed Meier to score in the top of the 5^th.
• ONU rallied to re-take the lead in the bottom of the 5^th on an RBI double, an RBI single and a sac fly.
• Olivet Nazarene added four runs in the bottom of the 6^th, plating two runs on RBI walks, with a sacrifice fly and a run scoring on a rundown off a caught stealing.
• Panozzo drove in his first collegiate RBI with a double in the top of the 7^th.

Saint Xavier (24-14/15-9 CCAC) travels to Charleston, Ill. to play NCAA Division I Eastern Illinois University (Ill.) in a nine-inning, non-conference contest on Wednesday, April 15. First pitch is slated for 3:00 pm.
