Joliet, Ill. – Senior pitcher Trent Markezich (Mount Olive, Ill./Mount Olive) threw his first collegiate shutout, and his third complete game of the season, allowing just four hits with one walk and striking out eight batters to move his record to 5-2 on the mound as No. 3 seed Saint Xavier University baseball (32-17/21-11) defeated No. 6 Indiana University South Bend 2-0 in the second game of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Baseball Tournament Wednesday evening at Slammers Stadium in Joliet, Ill. His opposition for the Titans, Gavin Lake, also pitched well as he held the Cougars to only five hits, however SXU scored both of its runs in the bottom of the 5^th to advance in the winner's bracket of the double-elimination tournament.

• Freshman infielder Trevor Corbett (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
• Junior designated hitter Noah Dreier (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) also went 2-for-3, adding a stolen base.
• Senior catcher Aaron Orzech (Streamwood, Ill./Crossroads Christian Academy) finished 1-for-2 with a hit-by-pitch. He ties the program record for career hit-by-pitches with Ryan Buchler (2006-07) as each were plunked 43 times, respectively.
• Redshirt freshman pinch-hitter Jackson Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) had the only RBI in the game for Saint Xavier, hitting his third sacrifice fly of the year.
• Markezich was efficient in his first three innings, and he got a ground ball out to start the top of the 4^th. IUSB hit a double and an error on the next play put two runners in scoring position, followed by a hit-by-pitch to load the bases. Markezich got out of the jam by rolling a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat.
• Corbett led off the bottom of the 5^th with a base hit and Orzech was hit-by-pitch. Dreir put down a bunt single, but an error allowed Corbett to score to break the scoreless tie. Michko came into pinch hit and he lifted a sac fly to double the lead at 2-0.
• Markezich got into a minor jam in the top of the 8^th when he gave up a base hit and a walk with one out. He retired the next two batters on a pop out and a fly out. Markezich worked a 1-2-3 9^th inning, ending the game with a strikeout.

No. 3 seed Saint Xavier (32-17/21-11 CCAC) moves on to play No. 2 Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in the CCAC Tournament on Thursday, April 30 in Joliet, Ill. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm first pitch.
