CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team (3-11, 3-2 CCAC) extended its winning streak to three matches in a row after a three-set victory (25-17, 25-20, 25-23) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) Tuesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. The Cougars were led by a pair of 11-kill efforts by senior middle blocker
Delaney Panozzo (Grant Park, Ill./Grant Park) and senior outside hitter
Aalyssa Gunn (Orlando, Fla./Trinity Christian/Orlando Christian Prep). Panozzo had a .429 attack percentage (11-2-21) with a block, while Gunn added three digs and a service ace.
- Senior setter Abbey Opilka (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) paced the offense for SXU with a match-high 33 assists. She also had six digs and a kill.
- Freshman middle blocker Addison Hoeniges (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) was tough at the net, coming away with eight kills on a .667 attack percentage (8-0-12).
- Junior outside hitter Lauren Ahlstedt (Roselle, Ill./Harper/Lake Park) surpassed her season-high in digs, collecting 11, along with seven kills and an ace.
- Junior libero Taylor Vann (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness Catholic) tallied a match-best 15 digs with four assists and two service aces.
- Junior defensive specialist Yuvia Velasquez (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) posted a season-high nine digs.
- Junior middle blocker Ellie Graf (Loves Park, Ill./Rockford Christian) chipped in two blocks (one solo), two digs, an assist and a kill.
Saint Xavier (3-11/3-2 CCAC) is on the road to take on Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in a CCAC contest on Saturday, September 26 in Bourbonnais, Ill. The match is slated for a 1:00 pm first serve.
