Elgin, Ill. – Senior midfielder/forward Yael Diaz (Chicago, Ill./Moraine Valley/Hubbard) recorded his team-leading sixth goal of the year, but the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team (4-6/0-1 CCAC) lost 2-1 to Judson University (Ill.) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) opener for both programs Saturday afternoon in Elgin, Ill. The Cougars were outshot by a 14-5 margin on the day with both goalkeepers coming away with one save apiece. Diaz finished the match with a team-high two shots on goal on two attempts while playing the full 90 minutes. It was his sixth consecutive match playing the full time, and the eighth time in 10 matches this season.

• Fifth-year senior forward Dorian Mahone (Carol Stream, Ill./Willowbrook), senior forward Mark Vitaliy Hul (Ternopil, Ukraine/Moraine Valley/TSSH No. 29) and redshirt junior midfielder Saul Lagunas (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) each had a shot attempt.
• Redshirt senior goalkeeper Daniel Martinez (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) collected one save, giving him 16 on the campaign.
• Judson struck first in the 5^th minute for an early 1-0 advantage.
• In the 12^th minute, Diaz converted a penalty kick to square the match at 1-1. It was his third penalty kick goal of the season on three attempts.
• JU netted the game-winning tally in the 71^st minute.
• Lagunas had a chance for the equalizer in the 89^th minute, however his shot attempt went high over the crossbar.

Saint Xavier (4-6/0-0 CCAC) travels to University Park, Ill. to take on Governors State University (Ill.) in CCAC action on Wednesday, September 30. The match is scheduled for a 3:00 pm start at the GSU Soccer Complex.
