Florence, Ky. – The Saint Xavier University baseball team (2-7/0-0 CCAC) was swept in a doubleheader Huntington University (Ind.), losing game one 3-0 and falling in game two 11-0 Saturday afternoon in Florence, Ky. The Cougars were limited to four hits on the day and drew six walks, three each in both games. Senior infielder Patrick Doran (Evergreen Park, Ill./NC Central/DuPage/South Suburban/Evergreen Park) collected four walks, while junior catcher/outfielder Evan Orzech (Shorewood, Ill./Crossroads Christian Academy) recorded double in game one and had a base hit in game two.

Game One:

• Doran went 0-1 with two walks.
• Orzech and senior infielder Declan Smyth (Evergreen Park, Ill./North Central/Evergreen Park) each finished 1-for-3 with a double.
• Senior outfielder Collin Woulfe (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) was 1-for-2 two at the plate with a walk.
• Sophomore pitcher Nico Saldias (Ajax, Ontario/Connors State/Pickering) took the loss (0-3) after pitching 3.1 innings and allowed six hits, three runs, two walks and striking out five batters.
• Freshman pitcher Heath Mann (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) made his collegiate debut and logged 3.2 innings out of the bullpen and gave up just one hit, walked one batter and had four strikeouts.
• The Foresters scored all of their runs in the top of the 4^th inning. Saldias issued a walk with the bases loaded and was chased from the game after allowing a two-run single.

Game Two:

• Orzech laced a double in the top of the 1^st and went 1-for-3
• Doran finished 0-1 with two more walks, while Woulfe was also 0-1 with one walk.
• Junior pitcher Julian Vargas (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) made the start (0-2) and lasted 2.1 innings with eight hits, eight runs, three walks and three strikeouts.
• Freshman Gannon Burns (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) made his collegiate debut on the mound and tossed 1.2 innings of relief. He surrendered three hits, one run and walked one batter.
• Sophomore pitcher Matt Boehm (Evergreen Park, Ill./Lewis/De La Salle) pitched an inning with one hit, two runs, two walks and one strikeout.
• Junior pitcher Caleb Ziehr (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) worked a clean bottom of the 6^th, striking out the first two batters he faced before inducing a groundout to end the inning.
• HU scored three runs in the bottom of the 1^st off a home run, an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
• Huntington scored twice more in the bottom of the 2^nd on double steal and a wild pitch.
• The Foresters tacked on four runs in the bottom of the 3^rd with a leadoff home run, a two-run double and an RBI base hit.
• HU hit its third home run of the afternoon, a two-run home run, to complete the scoring in the bottom of the 5^th.

Saint Xavier (2-7/0-0 CCAC) has a quick turnaround as they take on Madonna University (Mich.) in a doubleheader on Sunday, February 19. Game one is scheduled to start at 8:00 am central in Florence, Ky.
