Parker Violett (Maple Park, Ill./Kaneland) from Saint Xavier University baseball (31-17/21-11) was named the final Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Baseball Player of the Week when the awards were announced by the league office Thursday morning. In six games last week, Violett batted .412 in 17 at-bats (7-for-17) with a .522 on-base percentage, and he slugged .941. He drove in eight runs with five walks, four stolen bases, three doubles, and a pair of home runs. It is the first CCAC Player of the Week win for Violett.
- In a non-conference doubleheader at home vs. Indiana University Kokomo last Tuesday at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field, Violett hit a double with a run scored after going 1-for-3 in an 18-5 loss in game one. He homered with two RBI, two runs and a walk going 1-for-3 in a 7-2 win in the second game.
- Starting a four-game series with Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Friday in Palos Heights, Ill., Violett was 1-for-4 with two RBI, two runs, two stolen bases, a walk and a double in a 9-7 triumph in game one of a doubleheader. He went 2-for-2 in game two with three RBI, a home run, a double, a run scored and a steal in a 16-4 setback.
- Violett concluded the week going 1-for-4 with a run scored and a walk in a 19-4 defeat in the first game of a doubleheader at home. He was 1-for-1 with a sacrifice fly for an RBI and a walk in a 3-1 victory.
- Through 41 games played and 38 starts, Violett owns a .388 batting average (50-for-129), a .485 on-base percentage and is slugging .581. He has scored 41 runs with a team-leading 19 double, two home runs, 39 RBI and 75 total bases. Violett has drawn 27 walks and is 22-for-28 on stolen base attempts. He has a perfect fielding percentage in the outfield with 51 putouts and an assist.
No. 3 seed Saint Xavier (32-17/21-11 CCAC) moves on to play No. 2 Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in the CCAC Tournament on Thursday, April 30 in Joliet, Ill. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm first pitch.
