Acosta Earns NAIA First Team All-American for SXU

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Alex Acosta (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) from the Saint Xavier University men's bowling team was named an NAIA First Team All-American when the awards were announced by the national office prior to the NAIA Men's Bowling National Championship Tournament that begins March 23 in Sterling Heights, Mich. Acosta becomes the first bowler for the Cougars to earn NAIA All-American recognition. He was named a National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) All-American Honorable Mention last season.

  • Acosta finished in first place in two tournaments this season. He totaled 1,379 pins at the Ebonite Warhaw Open on December 3 and 1,443 pins to win the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic on February 18.
  • Acosta was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the Columbia 300 Western Shootout on October 15 after a third-place finish, as well at the Golden Eagle Invitational on September 24 with a fifth-place draw.

Saint Xavier gears up for the NAIA Men's Bowling National Championships at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights, Mich. The tournament beings on Thursday, March 23.
