Errors were the difference in the game as two SXU miscues led to all five runs for the Panthers being unearned. Saint Xavier tied its season high by turning three double plays, a mark they first achieved on March 28 at University of St. Francis (Ill.).
  • Freshman catcher Aaron Orzech (Shorewood, Ill./Crossroads Christian Academy) had a hit and a walk in three at-bats.

  • In the bottom of the 7th, Eastern Illinois had the leadoff batter reach on an error, and he would steal both second and third before scoring on an RBI groundout after a strikeout by Fairley. A double steal netted a run for the Panthers and a pair of RBI doubles, all with two outs, extended the lead to 5-0.
  • The Cougars were able to get runners in scoring position in the final three innings, but couldn't cash in.
