Daniel Barrios (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) slugging two home runs and collecting seven RBI, with infielder

Game One:
- Smyth was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk.
- Sophomore outfielder Kevin Dowling (Chicago, Ill./Murray State/Mount Carmel) went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs, a double, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk.
- Sophomore pitcher Nico Saldias (Ajax, Ontario/Connors State/Pickering) moved his record to 4-4 on the bump this season after pitching 6.0 innings and allowing just four hits, no runs, two walks and five strikeouts.
- Gill worked the top of the 7th and gave up two hits, a run and had a strikeout.
- The Cougars broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 3rd with five runs, all with two outs. Smyth started the rally with a two-run single to the gap in right center, Zarrillo ripped a two-run double, and Doran pulled an RBI single to right field.
- Hayes poked an RBI single through the right side of the infield to extend the lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the 4th.
- SXU plated five more runs in the bottom of the 5th. Ryan ripped a two-run double down the left field line, Haddlesey lined an RBI single, Dowling legged out an RBI infield single and Haddlesey scored on a passed ball.
- The Trojans hit a one-out home run in the top of the 7th.
Game Two:
- Barrios finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base.
- Haddlesey also went 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.
- Freshman Gannon Burns (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) scored four runs, primarily as a courtesy runner and made a pair of putouts and had two assists as a defensive replacement at shortstop later in the game.
- Freshman catcher Aaron Orzech (Shorewood, Ill./Crossroads Christian Academy) went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
- Ziehr threw 4.0 innings with seven hits surrendered, five runs (four earned), a walk and five strikeouts.
- Dougherty (5-3) earned the win in relief and had a clean sheet with a strikeout.
- Freshman pitcher Trent Markezich (Mount Olive, Ill./Mount Olive) allowed one hit with a strikeout in an inning out of the bullpen.
- Junior pitcher Nicholas Bounardj (Chicago, Ill./Marist) gave up a hit, two runs and a walk in the top of the 7th.
- Freshman pitcher Carter Kopp (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Bishop James Mahoney) finished the 7th and allowed just a walk to end the game.
- An error gave TIU a 1-0 lead with two-outs in the top of the 2nd.
- Saint Xavier responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning with a two-out rally. Dowling was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded and Hayes singled down the left field line to drive in two runs.
- Trinity International retook the lead, 4-3, in the top of the 3rd on an RBI triple, an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
- The Cougars mounted another rally, plating four runs in the bottom of the 3rd to go up 7-4. Smyth hit an RBI single, Zarrillo hit a sac fly, Barrios laced an RBI single to right field and Dowling belted an RBI triple.
- The Trojans got a run back in the top of the 4th with an RBI base hit.
- Barrios sliced a three-run home run over the wall in left to push the lead to 10-5 in the bottom of the 4th.
- SXU scored eight times in the bottom of the 5th to carry an 18-5 advantage. Smyth and Zarrillo drew bases loaded walks, Aaron Orzech was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, Haddlesey split the gap in right center for a two-run double and Barrios highlighted the inning with a three-run home run to right field.
- In the bottom of the 6th, freshman outfielder Ryan O'Farrell (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) hit an RBI single, freshman pinch-hitter Colin Stephens (North Liberty, Ind./Glenn) hit a sacrifice fly for his first collegiate RBI and freshman infielder Lucas Rodriguez (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) also collected his first collegiate RBI after a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded.
- TIU recorded a pair of runs on bases loaded walks in the top of the 7th.
Saint Xavier (22-22/14-8 CCAC) hosts Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in a nine-inning contest on Tuesday, April 25 at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field. The game is slated for a 3:00 pm first pitch.
