Ashland, Neb. – Senior Isaac Sytsma (Highland, Ind./Indiana Tech/Calumet St. Joseph/Highland) recorded the second-fastest time in program history in the 8K all-time for the Saint Xavier University men's cross country team at the Blazing Tiger NAIA Classic hosted by Doane University (Neb.) Saturday morning at Mahoney State Park in Ashland, Neb. Sytsma finished sixth overall out of a field of 339 runners with a time of 24:41.86. He set the school record in his previous race on October 5 with a time of 24:37.6 and now has the three-quickest times in team history. The Cougars, who entered the race receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll, finished seventh overall out of 27 teams with a score of 240. No. 3 College of Idaho won the event with a team score of 31 and they had the three top individual runners, including the race-winner, Daniel Butler, with a time of 23:56.03.

• Senior Jonathan Jacobo (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) set a new personal record (PR) for the second consecutive race, topping his old time by two seconds as he placed 29^th overall with a time of 25:22.17 and the 18^th-best time in SXU history.
• Senior Luke Snedden (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) also established a new PR, running over nine seconds quicker than his previous PR, set in his last race, with a time of 25:55.39 to finish 60^th overall.
• Junior Rohindeep Bhattel (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) posted the second-best time of his career, finishing 84^th with a time of 26:15.19.
• Senior Josiah Sianez (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) wasn't too far behind as he was 90^th with a new PR of 26:18.69, nearly nine seconds faster than his old PR set on October 5.
• Sophomore Luis Lopez (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) recorded the second-fastest time of his career with a mark of 27:01.48.
• Junior Ben Morrey (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) was steps behind his teammate, also running his second-best career mark at 27:05.97.
• Freshman Joey Lagattolla (Romeoville, Ill./Plainfield East) ran the second-quickest time of his young career in the 8K, crossing the line at 27:43.40.

Saint Xavier trains for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championships hosted by St. Ambrose University (Iowa) on Saturday, November 9. The race takes place at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf, Iowa at 11:45 am.
