Channahon, Ill. – Senior
Rohindeep Bhattal (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) demolished his previous personal record (PR) in the 5K by over one and a half minutes with an eighth-place time of 15:56.51 for the Saint Xavier University men's cross country team at the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Saints Twilight Invite at Channahon Community Park in Channahon, Ill. Friday evening. Bhattal's time helped the Cougars finish third out of 10 teams with a score of 92 points. The host Fighting Saints posted the top team score at 30 to win the meet.
- Senior Ben Morrey (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) PR'd as well, taking nearly a minute of his previous best with a 14th place time of 16:16.76. It was the first 5K for both Bhattal and Morrey since there first meet on the same course as freshmen.
- Freshman Michal Wreczycki Jr. (Palos Park, Ill./Stagg), making his collegiate debut, cross the finish line at 16:35.59 for a 22nd place scoring time.
- Junior Luis Lopez (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) was a step behind his teammate, clocking in at 16:35.82 to place 23rd.
- Sophomore Joey Lagattolla (Romeoville, Ill./Plainfield East) stayed near his teammates as he crossed at 16:42.54 for a 25th place draw.
- Sophomore Xavier Sananisai (Rockford, Ill./Jefferson) was 26th overall with his time of 16:52.24.
- Sophomore Trey Maciejewski (Rensselaer, Ind./Rensselaer Central) finished 28th with his mark of 17:03.38.
- Junior Andy Damon (Crestwood, Ill./Oak Forest) just missed the scoring cut for SXU, crossing at 17:06.32.
- Junior Alejandro Velazquez (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) posted a time of 17:11.70 in the first race of the new campaign.
- Freshman Josh Bosstel (Portage, Ind./Portage) made his collegiate debut, coming in with a time of 17:20.01.
- Freshman Will Morrey (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) also ran in his first collegiate race, competing with his older brother Ben, running the 5K course at 17:27.31.
- Freshman Joey D'anca (Palos Heights, Ill./St. Laurence) rounded out the field for Saint Xavier, crossing the finish line at 18:14.81 in his collegiate debut.
Saint Xavier travels to Marion, Ind. to take part in the Indiana Wesleyan University Twilight Invite. The race is scheduled for a 5:40 pm central start.
